why is international women’s day important for you?
for me, international women’s day is not just a celebration—it’s a call to action. it’s a reminder that the rights we have today were fought for by the women before us and that progress is never guaranteed. as a union official and advocate for gender equality, i see every day how deeply rooted inequalities still shape the lives of women—on the work floor, in society, and around the world.
as a mother of two young daughters, i feel a profound responsibility to help create a world where women can live, work, and dream without barriers. economic independence, equal opportunities, and freedom from discrimination should not be privileges—they should be the norm.
but we can only achieve this together. sisterhood is our strength. as audre lorde said, “your silence will not protect you.” so on this day, and every day, i choose to speak up, to take action, and to fight for a future where all women are not just heard but truly valued.
