my name is cheryl, and i’m 32 years old. i live in purmerend with my husband and our baby boy. at xomnia, i lead a talented team of 40 machine learning engineers and scientists as head of analytics and ai. in this role i am dedicated to deliver outstanding results for the team and our clients through the implementation of analytics and ai solutions.
i’ve led and contributed to a diverse range of projects as a machine learning engineer myself. from designing and developing real-time platforms to creating diverse data science solutions, such as recommender systems, churn models, pricing optimization, and demand forecasting.
beyond my technical expertise, i am passionate about fostering the growth and happiness of my team.
why do you think it is important that role models need to be visible?
with a study background in aviation engineering, i have firsthand experience what it’s like to be one of the few women in a predominantly male tech environment. when i graduated from high school, pursuing a technical career didn’t even come to my mind due to the scarcity of role models who looked like me. today, i’m happy to see a positive shift toward greater diversity and inclusivity. visible, diverse, and authentic leaders not only inspire the next generation but also enrich our workplaces and our world
