about
hello, i’m sara okhuijsen, cto & co-founder of oasys now. our mission is to make precision medicine accessible for everyone. my journey began in the fascinating world of nanobiology, where i developed a deep appreciation for the complexities of dna and genetics. driven by a vision to revolutionize healthcare, i focus on creating technological solutions that enhance genetic research safety and improve patient outcomes through data privacy, access and transparency. one of my core motivations is to address the alarming biases in our genetic datasets, which profoundly impact science, precision medicine, and healthcare.
why do you think it is important that role models need to be visible?
role models need to be visible in order to inspire confidence amongst women, especially in the realm of technology, because of how impactful it is in shaping our lives. the presence of deep-rooted biases in today’s healthcare, embedded in technology and data, highlights the necessity of a diverse array of minds. it’s crucial that the diversity of the creators, builders and operators mirrors the world’s population to develop solutions genuinely beneficial for everyone.
