about
i am a mother of two amazing kids (girl 12 and boy 8), a manager at the ministry of economic affairs and former local politician in the city of rotterdam. in my work i deal with strengthening our economy and i am leading three teams. i am responsible for topics such as securing the supply of critical raw materials, biotechnology, creative industry and preparing and supporting businesses in potential crises. i have a legal background specialised in international and eu law, but i also have a creative side. in the past i studied two years of documentary photography at the royal academy of arts in the hague. i currently live in the dynamic port city of rotterdam and before that i have lived in the hague, brussels and buenos aires. i love running, yoga, reading, good food and coffee. i enjoy travelling, hiking, wandering around in cities, exploring new musea and bookstores.
what or who inspired you to pursue your chosen career?
inspiration and opportunities are everywhere. you just have to open up your eyes and heart to see it. in every new step or phase of my career there were intelligent and interesting people around me willing to think along with me or to give me opportunities and responsibilities that helped me grow. in the past others saw strengths in me before i did myself. so now i try to do the same with colleagues around me. i have learned that the best thing to do is to follow your heart, to be open and ask for advice and other perspectives. be bold, be creative and don’t be afraid to make a mistake. it will only make you stronger
