about
architecture is an inspiring field where imagination and technical skill shape the future. as a professor, department chair, and vice dean, i am proud to educate and guide the next generation of designers and researchers. our cities are changing rapidly and we urgently need healthy, climate resilient, and affordable places to live. women play a vital role in this transformation. for too long, the built environment has reflected limited perspectives. by stepping into the field of architecture, you can bring ideas that make cities safer, fairer, and more inclusive. your leadership and creativity can genuinely reshape the world around us.
why do you think is important that role models need to be visible?
role models matter—not only for girls and women, but also for men. they help all of us break free from narrow, stereotypical ideas about which careers are possible for whom, and whose voices deserve to be heard. women make up half of the world’s population. we deserve a seat at every table, to be listened to, and to contribute in ways that reflect our own experiences, strengths, and voices. when women lead and speak openly, we expand what is imaginable for everyone.
delft university of technology
tu delft underlines that women in technology are essential—not only for equality, but for progress. with more women in engineering studies, we unlock a wider range of ideas, perspectives, and solutions. this diversity is not a luxury; it is a necessity to tackle the complex technological and societal challenges ahead. innovation grows stronger when everyone’s talent is included. by stepping into technology, women help shape a future that is smarter, fairer, and designed for all.
