i grew up in the 80s and 90s. my parents and grandparents told me i could become anything, and showed me how to stay independent. my mother worked and raised a family. she showed me it could be done. so i built my own path. from privacy work at philips and allen & overy to founding awesome compliance. together with my husband, i now show my three daughters the same route. let’s be honest. it’s not easy. you can’t have it all at once. you need clear choices, priorities and grit. something always has to give 😉

i want young women to know that…

you can become anything. i believed that as a girl, and i still do. but believing is the easy part. build your independence early. your own income, your own skills, your own network. it gives you choices when life changes. don’t wait until you feel ready. i started awesome compliance because the tools i needed didn’t exist. nobody hands you permission. choose a partner who shares the load. that matters more than any career advice. and accept that you can’t do everything at once. pick your priorities. say no often. something will always give. make peace with that.
