STROHM

In an innovation and technology focused company like Strohm, women in technical positions are still widely underrepresented. We believe in diversity and offering striving opportunities to women and men alike, without any gender biais. We encourage young women to apply and join us as operators, engineers, or technicians. Participating in the Equals campaign is important for Strohm, we want to see the next generation of women embrace all career paths without discrimination .

About

“I think I have always been a bit of a contrarian, already as a little girl refusing to conform to wearing dresses and playing with dolls. Being scientifically minded, I chose mechanical engineering after high school. There, I was part of the minority of females in a men’s world so to speak. It was an enriching experience with surprisingly few gender biases. During my career, I again went “counter-flow” to what was expected of a young female engineer. I moved abroad several times, worked on vessels offshore (talk about a men’s world there! and yes, a lot of discrimination toward women), and evolved in the offshore energy industry, always close to engineering and manufacturing.
I was lucky to find along the way inspiring women and men, open-minded and close-minded people (we can learn from them too!), and mix with an array of people from different cultures and backgrounds. ”

What or Who inspired you to pursue your chosen career?

“I love big machines and technical challenges, with a mix of geopolitics and economics. The energy industry has fascinated me from early on, and I still today get very excited about it, especially with the emerging transition to a decarbonized world, where I feel I can contribute a small brick to pave that road.”
