About
“I’m a Business Intelligence consultant or as we sometimes also call it at DEPT: an information designer or data storyteller (so many titles haha). Long story short; I try to support managers in their daily decision-making, by ensuring that complex data is visualised and conveyed in an easy, clear and actionable way.
I really like my job, but it’s fair to say that this wasn’t always the plan. Growing up I wanted to become an architect, a manager of a big event venue and even a movie director for a little while. I took some detours in my educational and career path, but I still believe that all these steps have contributed something to the consultant I am today. For my job, I need a fair degree of creativity and people skills, which were taught to me along the way. ”
What or Who inspired you to pursue your chosen career?
“As cliche as it sounds: my mom. Among many other things, my mom has taught me perseverance and kindness. Coming to the Netherlands from Suriname as a young girl without the stability that I had growing up, she made it work for herself. She worked extremely hard, days and days, to end up where she is now. I’m so proud of the mother she has become and everything that she and my dad have provided for me. If she reads this (and she will): I love you mom!”
