anka gajentaan, 54 years old, living in amsterdam together with paul, and a proud parent of two children who are currently studying and actively following their interests. anka has a passion for innovation: ‘i don’t only like to think about what to change and improve, but to get it done”. graduated in computer science, robotics & ai algorithms and a track record in business transformation and digital business development. after her career in it consultancy, she joined randstad and has supported this company’s transformation into a more digitized, global company which has significantly broadened its services portfolio over the years. anka currently heads up randstad digital in the netherlands, a new specialization of the company geared to support companies in digital transformations. as an ambassador for women in tech, anka is a passionate public speaker on this topic. i’m motivated most by leading a team working hard to achieve a unified mission, but with each team member contributing through their own strengths and expertise. witnessing their dedication and enthusiasm fills me with pride and optimism to realize a bright future together.
why is international women’s day important to you?
international women’s day is my birthday, so it’s a special day for me. i remember whilst i was studying in utrecht, there was a bridge which i would bike underneath everyday to get to the university on which a graphite painter had made a beautify mural design ‘march 8 is important ! celebrate the contributions of women across the globe”. it always put a smile on my face. over time, this is the day that fosters a sense of unity and solidarity among women worldwide. it brings attention to the collective strength and resilience of women, emphasizing the importance of working together to create positive change. some might see the day as a cry for help to promote gender equality, but for me it is a celebration day – for women who have overcome barriers and made significant contributions in their own field of expertise, the role models!
