you need to see to believe that leadership can come in all genders, nationalities and forms so that you don’t give up even before you start to dream!”

about

i proudly wear my triple minority badge at work – a woman, a parent, and north of 30. a rare blend in tech.

i work as a senior ux writer at bitvavo, a dutch cryptocurrency exchange, and i share common ground with many in ux – a transition from another industry, mine being brand marketing. at first glance, the two fields might seem similar, but they’re worlds apart. unlike brand marketing, where storytelling takes the spotlight, ux writing is all about problem-solving, and that’s where i discovered my sweet spot.

ux is an adventure i’d recommend to all fellow problem-solvers out there!

why do you think it is important that role models need to be visible?

in dutch tech, women comprise only 18%, despite the industry’s rapid growth…. during the 2022 tech layoffs in the us, the majority (69.2%) affected were women… in 2022, women at google “increased” to 33.9%.

in tech where only 18% are women, visible role models are like beacons of diversity. they have the power to defy the boys-only narrative and prove that innovation transcends gender. it’s not just about breaking the glass ceiling, it’s about shattering stereotypes. fostering inclusive work environments, eliminating gender stereotypes, closing the wage gap, promoting diversity in leadership… it’s not a revolution, it’s overdue evolution!
