at the moment i work on ai as a research engineer at google deepmind, but in past lives i’ve also been a mathematician, a software developer, an infrastructure engineer, and a geophysicist. so i suppose i’m a good example of how you don’t have to take a linear path to succeed in a technical field. i think as long as you follow your curiosity and passion, you’ll end up right where you should be.
why do you think it is important that role models to be visible?
one of the most challenging parts of being a woman in a technical field is that so few of the senior figures and leaders around me look like me, so it’s hard to see myself in their places. i’m excited to try to be the kind of role model that i missed so much early in my career, so that we can start a new cycle of empowerment!
