about
born and raised in the hague, i moved east to study business information technology where i turned out to be one of few girls. i think women miss out on the great opportunities in tech, and tech definitely misses out on a female point of view. since fifteen years i enjoy diverse colleagues and opportunities in shell, working at locations ranging from manufacturing plants to the cio office. i am curious, analytical and tenacious. i am happily married with three children and work four days a week. finally, i love reading fantasy books, meeting friends and gaming.
what qualities do you think are essential for success?
genuine listening, curiosity and seeking to understand. whether it’s people or problems, i’d say that is what it starts with. then analyze, discuss, get other views in and identify the next steps. and finally persistence, focus to deliver, but also the ability to help others come along on a change that they’ve not necessarily chosen. and all the while, don’t forget to own your success, claim your part and celebrate others, and manage your “brand”. easier said than done!
