i am an infectious diseases clinician, professor in vaccine development at lumc and a founder of infecta. i have a passion for science and have dedicated my career to combatting infectious diseases of global importance. my research team at lumc works towards developing vaccines against malaria, schistosomiasis and other poverty-related infections. the infecta team strives to accelerate the development of novel vaccines and medicine against all global infections through clinical trial innovation.
what or who inspired you to pursue your chosen career?
i have witnessed the impact of infectious diseases on the lives of people living in the global south. knowing that every step closer to vaccines for infectious diseases such as malaria will change the lives of millions of children around the globe drives me to work every day.
