we need more women in leadership because they bring fresh perspectives that challenge the status quo and drive meaningful change. empowering women in leadership isn’t an option, it’s a necessity for a healthier future.

about

what if 80% of chronic diseases could actually be prevented?

three years ago, while taking a few nutrition courses out of personal interest, i discovered an alarming fact: more than half of dutch citizens have one or more chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes or heart disease and these numbers are increasing rapidly. i also learned how profoundly food and lifestyle impact our health, and that most diseases are in fact preventable. yet, unhealthy food is everywhere, constantly encouraging us to make poor choices.

it’s time for change! after an international career in advertising and tech, co-founding and selling a privacy and data company, and becoming a mother of two, i decided to shift my focus. i began building a network of impact-driven people, organizations, and investors. and now, with fltrd, my co-founder laurens and i are on a mission to make the healthy choice the easy choice. in just a few months, we’ll launch our new scanning app to help consumers make better choices in the supermarket.

we strongly believe everyone deserves the right to make informed, healthy food choices. in 10 years, i want my kids to shop in a supermarket where healthy food is the norm, not the other way around.

what qualities do you think are essential for success?

don’t give up too easily. i strongly believe in the power of a growth mindset. you might not have certain skills today, but that doesn’t mean you can’t develop them or attract people who have them. i believe you can learn anything, as long as you’re willing to. is it easy? certainly not, but life becomes much more exciting when you embrace learning.

to be successful you need to be resilient. you sometimes get stuck, but instead of blaming others, you seek solutions. you fail, learn, and grow from your mistakes. and sometimes, you take a step back. in terms of salary, in terms of position or in terms of your time. and that is ok, because eventually it will get you closer to your purpose.
