i am berte simons and i am director of infrastructure & maritime affairs (coo) of the port of rotterdam authority. under my responsibility are departments responsible for the expansion and maintenance of the port and industrial complex. i am a maritime officer by education and i started my career in 2003 as a policy officer at north sea port. from 2006 to 2021, i held various international management positions at consultancy and engineering firm royal haskoningdhv, where i managed major projects in mining, heavy industry, aviation and the maritime sector. before i joined the port of rotterdam, i worked at energie beheer nederland (ebn) as director of the co2 storage and transport systems business unit.
