engineering manager II at uber

about

“i have 16 years of experience working in tech. i studied maths and computer science and then i started working as a backend engineer. with time i became a senior engineer, became a tech lead and now i am an engineer manager working closely with 3 teams of brilliant engineers at uber.
my career choice wasn’t always clear, i got interested early on in creating animations and that’s what picked my interest, got me to write my first lines of code and that became my launch pad.
i am originally romanian and lived in germany, belgium and the uk before moving to the netherlands.”

what or who inspired you to pursue your chosen career?

my mum was the most technical person in our household. she was great at all the stem subjects and i was lucky enough to grow up with the best role model anyone could have. i wasn’t very aware about any preconceptions society might have about my chosen career until i started working in the tech industry. when i became aware, it was too late. i was there to stay and i knew i could make a difference.
