about

i’m ilma, a 25-year-old software developer at bit, where i serve as the technical lead for various projects. my role involves ensuring smooth project execution by ensuring clean and efficient code, making all the code components “work together”, and offering support to my team whenever needed.

beyond my work at bit, i recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and am now pursuing a master’s in data science and artificial intelligence engineering at tu delft, where i’m currently in my first year.

i’m passionate about integrating ai into various fields, such as improving software engineering practices by using machine learning. i am particularly interested in how artificial intelligence can help solve complex real-world challenges, with a focus on important domains such as sustainability and healthcare. the greater the challenge, the more it excites me.

why do you think it is important that role models need to be visible?

the it industry is currently male-dominated, with limited representation of women. seeing successful women in tech showcases what’s achievable and inspires others, particularly young girls, to explore and pursue this exciting field. it breaks stereotypes and challenges the idea that certain roles or industries are gender-specific. seeing relatable women thriving in the tech industry makes a significant difference for young girls and women considering similar paths. it not only inspires but also helps break down the “imposter syndrome,” something i’ve personally faced—feeling like i didn’t belong or that men were inherently better due to prevailing stereotypes. this is why visible role models are so important —they normalize women’s presence and success in tech, inspiring other women and girls to believe in their own potential.
