about
when i was deciding my bachelor studies, i was torn between sociology and arts. my highschool art teacher told me i should go for design so i could merge my creativity and understanding of people. after 15 years of volunteering and 10 years in user experience, my professional mission has been to solve problems users face in creative ways; and through this trajectory i discovered my drive to mentor people from diverse backgrounds and see them grow in their careers, which led me to take the route as a manager.
besides this, my time in the netherlands and its openness mindset, deepened my awareness of speaking out about neurodiversity, embracing my adhd and also helping others navigate their late diagnoses. having my furry sidekick next to me has been crucial to approach it openly and share my own ride and all the comorbidities that come with it.
why is international women’s day important for you?
coming from a “macho” culture and working in a male-dominated industry, commemorating this day showcases the importance of rethinking the role of women in society, the capacity we have within and see the change we have made in almost 100 years of history since this day started. it’s not just about acknowledging we are underrepresented in companies, but about how we need to be brave enough to raise awareness and our voices to question and challenge the status quo. in an equal world, it means ensuring that no girl or woman is ever forced into a path she didn’t choose. the ability to shape our own destiny should be a right, not a privilege.
