i’m maja, originally from poland, and i’ve called amsterdam home for the past five years. i’ve always been fascinated by people—what drives them, the choices they make, and how they grow. that curiosity led me to study psychology, which eventually led me to recruitment. now, i lead talent acquisition initiatives at bitvavo, focusing on scaling teams and building a culture where people thrive. to me, hiring isn’t just about filling roles—it’s about helping people find their paths, supporting their growth, and building amazing teams that drive a company’s success.
why do you think it is important that role models need to be visible?
visibility matters. when people see others who’ve walked a similar path and succeeded, it reshapes what they believe is possible. every day, i meet talented candidates who wonder whether they’re ‘good enough’. but seeing someone who’s been in their shoes and made it proves that success isn’t limited to a select few. it’s a powerful reminder that with the right opportunities and support, their ambitions are within reach.
