leadership talent partner at bunq
about
hi, i’m thenny, and two years ago i embarked on my bunq journey as a recruiter. today, as a leadership talent partner, i’m scouting for exceptional leaders who share our vision of building the first global bank people love to use.
my passion lies with people – connecting with them and learning about them. bunq has helped me truly live out my passion for connecting with people and building amazing teams by finding perfect candidates, understanding what drives them, and helping people thrive in a unique environment where they can be their best selves.
what advice would you give to your younger self?
never be afraid to fail – there’s always something to learn from failure, and that in itself is a success. as a child, i grew up fearing failure. i felt that if i were to fail, the response would be disappointment, both from myself and from those around me. this mindset had a significant negative impact on me. at the age of 15, i moved abroad to attend university. while abroad, i met many people from diverse backgrounds, all in the same place pursuing different goals: learning english, pursuing a degree at 40, changing careers. through these interactions, i learned that success isn’t linear, which significantly broadened my horizons. since then, i’ve started allowing myself to try new things i wouldn’t normally consider. i’ve joined a choir, lived in seven different countries, taken up crocheting, and much more. have i faced my share of failures? absolutely! i completely flunked cello class, and my dutch isn’t very good. but now i’m accepting that these experiences are all part of the journey, and that all these “failures” are guiding me towards finding where i can feel and be my best.
