about
my name is eva van der plas. i’m 40 years old and the proud mother of two children. i work in our family business together with my two brothers; we are co-owners of the company and represent the sixth generation. our family mission is clear: to keep healthy food affordable and accessible for everyone. we grow and produce sprouted vegetables, including mung bean sprouts (taugé), one of our best-known products. we operate internationally and supply customers across multiple markets. outside of work, i love spending time outdoors with my children. i also value discipline and energy in my daily routine, twice a week i train at 7:00 in the morning.
why international women’s day is important for you?
international women’s day is important to me because it reminds us that women’s rights are not equal everywhere and progress is never guaranteed. in our company we work with people from many nationalities, and colleagues often share that women have far fewer freedoms in their home countries. those conversations make it real and personal. this day is a call to keep speaking up and pushing forward, so that freedom, safety, and equal opportunities become universal rights, not privileges. i want every woman to be able to make her own choices, be respected, and have the chance to lead

women remain underrepresented in top positions and in visible economic decision-making in the netherlands. This underscores why visibility matters. talent has no gender — yet visibility too often does.
