software engineer ii at uber
about
my name is iarina and i moved to the netherlands to study engineering. i never felt like i could be an engineer but i really liked problem solving. my former teacher told me that anyone can learn how to code, but not many people ask the right questions behind it – and she saw my potential in that. after my bachelors, i joined uber as an intern and now i am a full time software engineer. i often struggled to find representation of women in tech, especially in senior positions, and dreamt of a space where no matter what, women can be their authentic selves. i joined our women@ uber community to make that dream come true and become a representation voice for the future generations. now, i am the global lead for the women in tech community and i am grateful for all the amazing people i’ve met on the way to make this happen.
what advice would you give to your younger self?
there is always more support and kindness than we can imagine and everything can be achieved if you work hard enough – dare to try more than others dare to fail.
