chief sustainability officer at prosus
about
as chief sustainability officer for naspers-prosus group, i am responsible for overseeing the transition of a diverse portfolio of technology companies towards a net zero future. my previous experience spans campaigning for an international environmental ngo, building credible integrated reporting at an international bank, financing and working with entrepreneurs in africa and asia on clean energy solutions with a consistent vision to catalyze sustainable transitions.
i am of indian origin, studied in australia, worked in asia, africa, uk and currently in the netherlands. i am raising a multi race, multi cultural family with my dutch partner, which has made us both fundamentally more open to listening and understanding different perspectives. whether it’s raising a multicultural family or working across continents, i have learned that inclusion is about more than representation—it’s about fostering a culture of empathy, collaboration, and shared purpose.
why do you think it is important that role models need to be visible?
throughout the early stages of my career, i longed to see role models—women i could truly identify with—thriving in aspirational leadership roles. across sectors and geographies, advancing to senior levels in organizations often went hand in hand with seeing fewer women, and in europe, even fewer women of colour. this is why every role model i could connect with became a beacon of inspiration, guiding me and reinforcing my belief that i too, could reach my full potential by embracing and staying true to my authentic self.
prosus
at prosus, we build technology that shapes how millions of people live, learn, and do business. with that scale comes influence, and a responsibility to help shape a more inclusive future.
joining the equals role model campaign matters because visibility changes what people believe is possible. when women in technology, leadership, ai, product, and investment roles are seen and celebrated, it challenges outdated norms and sends a clear message: there are no limits to what women can achieve.
by amplifying these role models, we help reshape expectations and invest in a future where talent, not gender, defines opportunity.
