application designer at afas software

about

hello! my name is shannon and i am a tax software designer at afas software. during my studies in accounting & control, i was determined to become a chartered accountant. after working for several years in the compilation and audit practice, afas crossed my path. curious and ready for a change, i decided to take a leap of faith and explore a different direction. i’m really happy i made this decision. at afas, i can apply my existing expertise while continuing to develop new skills.

what or who inspired you to pursue your chosen career?

someone once told me: “find a job that makes you happy and that you’re excited to go to every day.” my time in compilation and audit practice was enjoyable and valuable, but i never truly felt that way. that realization pushed me to try something completely different. i switched to the it sector, learned a lot, and built on my academic and professional background in ways i didn’t expect. now i genuinely feel energized by my work and go to the office with enthusiasm almost (let’s stay real) every day.

at afas, we believe that differences make us stronger. we invest in a culture where everyone can be themselves and has equal opportunities. talent is everywhere, but opportunities are not. that is why we actively commit to strengthening the position of women in tech and lowering barriers. we believe in getting things done. so instead of just talking about it, we take concrete steps, make role models visible and create real opportunities. more women in tech shouldn’t be a campaign; it should be a given.
